Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec: Reading Stanley Brouwn

    english below...

Delo Reading Stanley Brouwn naslavlja tematike vsakdanje hoje, merjenja, arhiviranja, branja in ritmične časovnosti.
Z branjem umetniške knjige my steps 12. 12. 2005 – 1. 1. 2006 projekt vzpostavi odnos z opusom konceptualnega umetnika Stanleya Brouwna (Surinami/Nizozemska), katerega številna dela naslavljajo (neiz)merljivost in materialnost razdalj in njihovo arhiviranje v procesu štetja lastnih korakov.
Projekt vsebuje tri elemente – knjigo my steps 12. 12. 2005 – 1. 1. 2006 umetnika Stanleya Brouwna, nevidno akcijo Taa G. Vrhovca Sambolca in postavitev, ki knjigo in akcijo znova “osedanja” kot nejasno in skrivnostno ritmično navodilo, sugestijo, normo ali oporo za gibanje, refleksijo ali poslušanje.
Reading Stanley Brouwn je del večletnega umetniškega raziskovalnega projekta Rhythms of Presence (2013-2016) v okviru norveškega programa Norwegian Artistic Research Programme.

  • Reading Stanley Brouwn by Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec addresses the themes of everyday walking, measuring, archiving, reading and rhythmic temporality.
Through the reading of the artist’s book my steps 12. 12. 2005 – 1. 1. 2006, the work establishes a relation to the oeuvre of conceptual artist Stanley Brouwn’s (Surinam/The Netherlands), whose numerous works deal with topics such as (im)measurability and materiality of distances and their archiving through the process of counting his own steps.
The project comprises three elements – Stanley Brouwn’s book my steps 12. 12. 2005 – 1. 1. 2006, an invisible action by Tao G. Vrhovec Sambolec, and an installation that puts the book and the action again “in the now” as an unclear and mysterious rhythmic instruction, suggestion, norm or support for movement, reflection, or listening.

Reading Stanley Brouwn is part of a long-term artistic research project Rhythms of Presence (2013-2016) in the framework of the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme.
