Kaja (Valenti)
Lorenci, born in 1981 in Maribor, graduated from the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance
(SEAD). After finishing her studies, she worked as a dancer with
different authors: Andreja Rauch Podrzavnik, Mateja Bučar, Madeleine
Karlsson and Alexander Stratimirović, Rosana Hribar and Gregor Luštek,
Carmina Slovenica (Karmina Šilec). In her performance Awaiting Resonance created in collaboration with Ivan Mijačević (2011) she began
developing a unique method of creative work and approach to movement.
The show was selected for 2013 Gibanica Festival and was later
successfully presented at the Croatian dance platform. For several years
she has been teaching contemporary dance technique at SVŠGL secondary
level education program in contemporary dance. She's
currently preparing an ‘Art of Movement’ MA thesis at the Academy of
Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana.In 2017 she received the Ksenija Hribar Prize in the category "perspective choreographer", awarded by the Association for Contemporary Dance of Slovenia.
