musical editor, music critic, journalist, essayist, publisher, organizer of concerts
Born
on 12th of May 1975, Kranj, Slovenia. For more than 18 years Luka Zagoričnik
has been writing about music, organising concerts, sound events, giving and
organising lectures home and abroad, preparing radio shows, moderating TV
shows, working as a journalist, writing reviews, articles and essays for
various Slovene and foreign magazines and publications.
For more than 15 years
he has been working for one of the oldest independent radio stations in Europe,
Radio Študent, where he has been also
musical editor for 5 years. He is currently editor of internet based music
magazine Odzven, which is part of Slovene music information centre SIGIC.
He
has been writing for musical monthly magazine Muska, for biggest Slovene
newspaper Delo and weekly magazine Mladina among others.
For many years he has
been working as a moderator, journalist and music critic for national Slovene
television RTV Slovenija and for six years he organized lectures and sound
events of contemporary experimental music and sound art in a sound series
Bitshift in Galerija Kapelica in Ljubljana. He co-ran a show about experimental
and contemporary classical music ‘Glasni novi svet on III. program of Slovene
national radio- Program ARS and a show of
experimental music ‘Godbeni Imperializem’ on independent radio station Radio Študent.
I
n 2015 he curated cd of Slovene experimental music ‘Experiment Slovenija’ for
SIGIC. He is also one of the curators of festival Sonica and series of sound
art exhibitions, sound performances, symposiums at cultural organisation MoTA-
Museum for Transitory Art in Ljubljana and abroad (Wroclaw, London, Venice,
Trieste, Berlin, …). The organisation is dedicated to research and
presentation of contemporary art practicies from the fields of installations,
performances, audio-visual and multimedia arts and is part of international
network of festivals SHAPE.
He has been running independent label for
experimental music L’Innomable since 2005 with more
than 20 releases of international
artists and organizing concerts in Ljubljana.
As a freelancer he lectures
regular on topics of experimental music, free improvisation, sound art, contemporary
art and sound theory. He had given lectures in Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland,
Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovakia. Most recently he edits bilingual internet magazine for
improvised music
Centralala.si.
