A cycle of contemporary composed music
Zvokotok focuses on contemporary composed music. It is
defined by the research of compositional procedures and often linked to music
technology. It encourages and merges unique sound languages and performative innovativeness
and moves contemporary compositions into new spatial and concert forms.
Zvokotok connects established
institutional spaces of artistic activity with premises of the dynamic action
of NGOs. It implements and maintains unburdened space of
dialogue and overcome the artificial distinction between areas and venues of
artistic activity.
In 2026, under the programme direction of Tomaž Grom, Zvokotok foregrounds the question of the sonic gesture as the expressive and conceptual core of contemporary composition, while opening up an exploration of sonic thinking beyond interpretation and repositioning listening within the realms of reflection, materiality, and immediate presence. The materiality of sound and bodily presence shape the sonic experience as a spatial–corporeal event. Zvokotok thus explicitly departs from traditional modes of reading and turns toward the creation of sonic events that respond, reflect, resonate, and evoke without explaining. It affirms music as thought, as action, and as presence.
