In France, we often say that the truth always comes from the mouths
of children (La verité sort toujours de la bouche des enfants). As I
pondered the idea of justice, I realized that this word carries the
burden of concepts such as equality, law, rule, morality, punishment,
truth … that every adult seems to understand.
I asked my children what that word means to them, and realized that
they find it quite abstract, even though they have their own set of
ideas about what is fair or unfair. So I invited a few kids to write
thoughts about their vision of justice. A few workshops with children,
the collaboration of a poet, composer, musicians – and the song about
justice was born.

When society is burdened with a lot of restlessness and complicated
rules, when we have strayed or are looking for the right path,
inequalities, divisions and abuses of power are the worst enemy of
justice. The law of the strongest prevails, the weakest are the cannon
fodder to achieve the goals of the elites.
To establish order, reduce conflicts, enable the collaboration of a
herd, dogs form their own social structure. The relations between them
are regulated by a hierarchy. Who is the alpha, who is the beta, who is
the gamma, and who is the delta under equal circumstances on the theater
stage? Freedom, equality, brotherhood or death?

Justice
is something we demand. In a world where in the name of safety some
people gain more rights than others and recently applied laws appear to
be illegal, justice is definitely something to ask for. Where the hell
is Iustitia? Who put ribbon on her eyes? Why is she always too late?
Having
this question in mind we invite everyone to join the big feast. After a
long time of lockdown, half awake, half in deep sleep we step outside
in the open air. We brought a lot of food and the best wine. We
celebrate a big dream about a perfect world where life is fair and
simple and Justice is always on the right side. Our side. We wait for
her, praise her and lay our trust on her. We expect her to implement
fair share. We’ve just forgotten one thing: she carries a sword and does
not see a damn thing. On the Statehood Day of this beautiful country,
dear Lady Justice, you’re very welcome!
The project was conceived based on participation in the Via Negativa laboratory for contemporary performance art – VN Lab 2021.

We
live from the first inhale to the last exhale. We breathe to live, we live as
we breathe. By breathing, we supply oxygen to the brain. Breathing produces
thoughts. Breathing is a struggle for life. We fight for our existence, for our
meaning, for our thought. With a minimalist act of the installation, we observe
the basic human right to exist, through visual poetics we show the struggle for
this basic right. Let us breathe. Let them breathe.
